The Jo Harrop Trio Presents The Billie Holiday Songbook: Critically acclaimed jazz singer Jo Harrop, “Comparable with some of the best in female jazz singers from the genre’s Golden Age ….” Simply Jazz Talk, honours the most distinct voice in jazz history, and sings the songbook of one of her biggest inspirations, Billie Holiday. Called ‘Lady Day’ by her closest jazz partner, the tenor sax giant Lester Young, whom she christened ‘Prez’, Billie was a superstar of her time. Her unique style and legacy continues to this day embodying what is elegant and cool in contemporary music, her warm emotive and careworn vocal delivery getting right to the heart of the songs she recorded and sang, just as if she had lived each and every lyric.

For this special show Jo will be accompanied by the hugely talented pianist Alex Hutton who has played with many of the UK’s top jazz musicians. Completing the trio is the Internationally feted saxophonist Brandon Allen (Eric Clapton, Kyle Eastwood, Jools Holland) reprising the Lester Young role. The set list will include songs such as’ Fine & Mellow’, ‘God Bless The Child’, ‘Sophisticated Lady’, ‘I’ll Never Smile Again’, ‘The Man I Love’, ‘Don’t Explain’,  ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ among more of Billie’s well-loved repertoire. 7.30pm Tickets £15 (£13 for Chiswick Club Card holders) plus Eventbrite booking fee.
